Enjoyed James Arthur Ray’s Free Lecture Last Night

I went with my hubby yesterday to see the free lecture of James Arthur Ray’s in Metro Detroit.  One of my favorite bands, the Dropkick Murphys were in town last night too.  It was a hard choice for me to make–go see an author who was in the movie, “The Secret” or see a band who I’ve seen at least 5-6 times live play…again!  I decided to go to the lecture.

James is a very engaging, charismatic, enthusiastic, and passionate speaker.  It was a fun, interesting night.  James shared his personal path related to wealth and life path.  He’s the author of the book The Science of Success (written in 1998 he said).  He has a new book called, Harmonic Wealth coming out in April of 2008.

I was surprised to learn that James had been doing motivational speaking and teaching about success for 16 years prior to the movie, “The Secret.”

The information on the Law of Attraction has been circulating for years.  I mean, it’s one of the seven universal laws, so people have been writing and teaching about it since the beginning of time.  But, James Ray is a very practical, down-to-Earth spiritual teacher (spiritual meaning your connection to Source or spirit in whatever way that means for you versus religion).

There were many insights I received from attending the lecture.  I really resonated with the idea that it’s not what you do, but it’s how you do it.  I took this to mean that having enthusiasm and passion for your work and purpose makes the difference in your life and that of others’.  Also, I resonated with the idea that wealth is not just financial, but there are other aspects such as relationships, physical health, mental health, and spiritual well-being.

I especially enjoyed how James wove in teachings from his studies of spirituality with lessons of quantum physics.  Science and spirituality seem to be merging more and more every day.  I believe in the idea that energy flows where attention goes.  Similar energies attract each other and opposites repel (this is related to the Law of Attraction).

I enjoyed James’ discussion of balance.  Basically, he believes that one is better off striving for harmony in life versus balance.  I liked his analogy that if you think of a scale in balance, what is happening with the scale?  Nothing.  But, if you think of an orchestra, he said, there is a harmoic intertwining which is appealing.  Many people go around with much guilt over not being perfectly balanced all the time in every life area.  This guilt creates a low vibration which makes it harder to attract the good stuff in life.

James did address dream boards in the lecture last night.  He said that to bring about manifestations, thoughts, feelings, and actions all need to fire in alignment.  He says action is the most frequently missed aspect of the equation.  James mentioned that many spiritual teachers urge students to visualize or meditate about their desires.  This is good and can be healing, but the rubber needs to hit the road sooner or later.  I just love James’ tell-it-like-it-is style.

Last night, we did this exercise briefly of our goals both short and long-term.  After the exercise, we worked with a partner, affirming that we were commited to doing what it takes to help our dreams become a reality.  I loved that part.  It was very inspiring!

But…to accomplish these things we desire from our heart, it takes practicing the Law of Reversal which means one thinks, speaks, and acts in ways that are opposite of how most people think, speak, and act.  “Most people” includes your family, the media, government, school systems, and religious institutions.  I love being opposite of people anyway–it appeals to the punk rocker in me!  So, this should be no problem.  James is right though–sometimes, we’re conditioned into mediocrity in American society.  I also agree with his idea that no one in history who has been considered “great” was every normal.  Thank goodness, huh?

James challenged us to do something different, outside the norm.  Be willing to think outside the box.  I highly resonated with his talk about how energy either manifests in waves (unformed stage) and in particles (energy coagulates or forms).  Energy has to be either, so it can’t be both.  Also, in quantum physics, there is the observer effect–you get what you’re looking for in life.

Since everything in life is energy, just think of the possibilities (and ramifications) of all of this.  In reality, all potentialities exist.  But, if you observe something into your own life/energy field, you create a particle which collapses the waves–so, negative potentialities can disappear as you create health, wealth, love, or whatever it is you would like to have in your life.

I was inspired by this lecture.  I’ve been working on manifestation for a long time.  I realized I need to be more action-oriented.  I have a daily gratitude practice, but have expanded my definition of wealth.  I’ve always felt wealthy due to being healthy, physically fit, and having many loving people to share my life with, especially my wonderful husband.  But, it’s not wrong to enjoy financial wealth–I have to keep affirming this.  I have some work to do because I have been susceptible to beliefs that healers should not charge and other limiting beliefs.

Time to release those!

Enjoy wealth on every level,

Lisa
